NEWS FLASH: Victory for TCFC Members and TUCSON!!!

CAMPING BAN ADOPTED IN WASHES AND PARKS

After three years of grassroots organizing and a previously failed attempt, the Tucson Crime Free Coalition is proud to announce a major step forward.

Last Night, the Tucson City Council voted 5 to 1 to ban camping in city parks and washes. Only Council Member Dahl, Ward 3 opposed the ordinances.

Finally the Mayor and Council are listening to their constituents, and we thank our members for never giving up. Your persistence made this victory possible.

Together, we speak with one voice for public safety, accountability, and a community where everyone can thrive.

That’s great but I have a question so I’ve noticed that the homeless now actually sleep about 10 ft from the sidewalks now. I’ve called the police they say they’re not blocking the sidewalk they’re not breaking any laws there’s nothing we can do. The police do not enforce it as long as they’re not breaking the law just because you’re not breaking the law doesn’t make it right. So that’s what I’ve seen the homeless do now. Let’s see if they enforce this.

Good News, but there has to be actual follow up and get them in shelters and off the street and detox from drugs. The COT doesn’t even pay attention to their own Business Owners. A young lady spoke during the call to the audience and said that no one has contacted her after repeated vandalism and potential violence at her business. Shame on the COT they are outrageously bad.

About time! I live just a few steps away from a city park. Last year, one of the ramadas was taken over by a homeless camp. I practically made a career out of reporting it. Finally, after five months, it was swept. A few weeks later, I talked to a city parks employee who was involved in the cleanup. According to her, they cleaned the sh— out of it. Literally.
