WE WON!!! TCFC Members WON!!! City Prop 414 Soundly DEFEATED!!!
IT'S TIME FOR MAYOR AND COUNCIL TO DO THE WORK WE PAY THEM TO DO!
Prop 414 was defeated 70% to 30% because citizens believe Mayor and Council are NOT doing their job. They showed no evidence they looked at the budget and made priority decisions or tradeoffs. They took the easy route and simply decided to ask for more money which would have made Tucson the highest sales tax in Arizona! That would have hurt our most vulnerable citizens.
They called an election that could potentially rise to the cost of $1M dollars. Wasted.
Council Member Kevin Dahl (Ward 3), who illegally campaigned for Prop 414 at a City Council Meeting and Mayor Romero, in particular, are out-of-touch with the voters. This election demonstrated how the doubling-down on failed policies is hurting our citizens. Even after this overwhelming defeat, Mayor Romero, at her party, on the news, was blaming the President for her failure locally.
It's time to listen and stop pursuing ideological, failed policies. This was a referendum on Mayor and Council failed policies.
Let's get back to work and prioritize within the budget to provide services specified in the city charter including:
- Making us safe
- Fixing our roads
- Providing TPD what is needed to respond to our 911 calls
Mayor and Council have lost their focus and need to heed this overwhelming rejection of their current failed policies.

Congrats. GREAT job. Those percentages are pretty significant, 70-30. But not the time to rest on your backends. This was not only a vote on a tax, this was a vote on the current condition of Tucson, on the future of Tucson, and on the people making decisions that affect the above. This includes the city manager. More and more people are realizing we are living a nightmare in this city.(Just read an article about businesses who are suffering losses because of theft of copper from HVACS and these backflush plumbing devices. A business owner clearly identifies the problem as the “homelessness” in the central part of the city-where, m&cc, manager, is your plan (If you cannot produce a plan, resign- this is not a science experiment we are living) to protect us from this scourge?) Let’s move forward and demand that the m&cc, manager all resign. They offer Tucson absolutely nothing positive for its future. There are no ideas, no plans. They are just going to continue to destroy our city. . RESIGN NOW.
While you and your greedy, uneducated, hypocritical, self-serving deplorables may have “won,” tens of thousands of Tuconans lost being provided by a long list of services.
