You are asking & We are delivering

The Tucson Crime Free Coalition has had a signifi cant number of requests from community members and business owners asking how The City of Tucson works and who to contact with concerns, problems and or questions. We have also found that many residents are unsure of which Ward they live in. To help with this, we have included in this newsletter a City Ward Map so you can easily identify your direct council representatives although we recommend contacting ALL of them with your concerns and questions.
To help residents take action, we have compiled a complete list of the Mayor and City Council along with their contact information. We encourage you to reach out directly and share what you are experiencing. You are more than welcome to include and provide pictures and movies for proof that you have. This can include but is not limited to

● Trespassing on private property
● Encampments
● Fires set on public property
● Street Racing
● Boarded-up or abandoned buildings
● Businesses closing due to on-going crime
● Safety concerns for yourself, your children or grandchildren
● Poor road conditions
● Concerns about the Cities $2,410,000,000 budget and them not being able to control spending
● Free Buses and the problems that has created
● The drug addiction and mental illness problem all over Tucson

We strongly encourage you to email The Mayor and all of the Council, so they can receive a full and accurate picture of what is happening across the whole city and hopefully see that this is not normal. This is one of the most effective ways to communicate concerns - and it ensures you have a record that your voice was heard. We have made this very easy - all you need to do is “copy and paste” all of the email addresses into the To: section of your email.

Remember you need to be active and demand accountability or nothing will change

PARKS AND BUS CONVERSATION — AGAIN

After years of watching our city deteriorate, we once again find the Mayor and Council
having the same conversations—while telling the public that things are improving.

Now, the city is proposing an additional $3.00 per month fee, which will be added on to your water bill to help fund cleanup efforts tied to issues they have allowed to grow.

While $3.00 may not seem like much on its own, it adds up across the entire community and raises an important question: Why are taxpayers being asked to pay more while existing laws continue to go unenforced?

At the same time, the city continues down the same path:

● Ongoing lack of enforcement around encampments
● Continued fare-free bus service without addressing associated concerns
● Little to no enforcement of laws regarding activity on medians

Ordinances are passed, but too often they are not enforced.

For years, The Tucson Crime Free Coalition has raised these concerns. We continue to ask:
When will leadership shift from discussion to action? Meaningful change will not happen without consistent enforcement of existing laws.

All expressing concern about safety and the conditions they are experiencing. At the same time, local businesses are struggling to survive amid ongoing theft, disorder, and rising
costs.

Instead of taking decisive action, the city continues to invest time and resources into
studies and surveys often without meaningful follow-through. If the results are not what
they were hoping for they move on to another study.

We encourage every resident to make their voice heard.

We are including contact information for the Mayor and City Council—please take a few
minutes to:

● Send an email
● Make a phone call
● Share photos or videos of what you are experiencing in your area

Copy and Paste these email addresses into the To: section of your email:

This week, we were honored to present the Southwest Rams with a $500 check to help
offset some of the rising costs they, and many other youth teams, are facing. We were
able to do this because of the generous donations that we have received.

The City of Tucson is now imposing additional fees on teams that use city parks for
practice. These costs come on top of the approximately $5,000 already paid for field use,
lighting, and park maintenance. For many teams and families these added expenses are becoming increasingly difficult to manage.

Even more concerning are the conditions these teams are facing. Parents are often forced
to arrive early to clear parks before practice; asking individuals experiencing homelessness to leave the fields and restrooms. Bathrooms have been turned into makeshift laundry areas, sleeping quarters, and in some cases: places where drug use is occurring. This is the reality families are navigating just so their children can safely participate in sports.

Nero, the courageous young man who spoke at the most recent Mayor and Council
meeting is a member of the Southwest Rams. He shared firsthand experiences of what he
has witnessed in our parks:  overdoses, public nudity, and the presence of dangerous drug paraphernalia. No child should have to navigate those conditions simply to play the game they love.

As of today, only one council member has reached out to Nero and his family: Ward 5
Council Member Selina Barajas. We would like to sincerely THANK Council Member Barajas for taking the time to respond and connect with this family.

You can watch Nero’s powerful testimony to the Mayor and Council at the link below.

Tucson Crime Free Coalition would like to ask the Mayor and Council - Are you charging the people that are living and using drugs at the park? We know you are not arresting them for illegal activity - so why are we paying for them to continue this lifestyle?

Okay well the newsletter says you have two call to actions that you need help with, but then you never say what the call to actions are in the newsletter ?that I could find?

The contact info is good – thank you for all you are doing to try and save Tucson. It is really bad right now.

Sorry, but what the heck does “Tucson is in the top 30 cities for the worst crime” mean? Was it 29th or 9th? We don’t feel better because there are 29 other worst cities in our neighborhood. This is what we get now from TPD. They recently encrypted their radio communications so no one can listen now to really see how bad the crime is in this city. All the information we get now will be filtered more than ever because there is no way to check what they say. “top 30” This isn’t Dick Clark’s topp 10 countdown.
Wait until they pull up with the city mobile showers. You haven’t seen anything yet.

What an incredible young man Niro Vasquez is! Let’s pray that he and his teammates are listened to by more than just one City Council member.

Tucson Police Chief Monica Prieto stated that Tucson is in the top 30 cities for the worst crimes. Woot, woot … the Mayor and Council at least succeeded in some goal other than wasting tax payer’s money. They should be so proud.
